The Best of Both Worlds

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

Most people don't understand what the Holy Spirit is, nor what it offers. Terms like 'eternal life', 'salvation', etc., are lost to most people as they cannot relate to what is being said. It is usually the testimony of a spirit filled person that opens the eyes and minds of the hearer. Their real life experience reveals what these scriptural promises actually mean; being explained through their own experiences and miracles. God offers the unsaved a sign which comes with the infilling of the Spirit... speaking in tongues (also the primary form of spiritual communication with God). The Holy Spirit is God's personal power. It is able to enter our bodies and unites with our own spirit, magnifying all our abilities and opportunities. The bible teaches us how to develop these powers and skills and the best way to apply them to get results. Even though our bodies will die, our spirit is united with God who cannot die, thus eternal life is made possible for us.

Fake News

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

All the recent talk about 'fake news' serves to remind us of the ongoing battle between truth and error. Not only have scriptural principles been corrupted by religious compromise... almost all forms of news and education have become vehicles for ideological and/or political promotion and point scoring. Most news that has any form of political content will be skewed to suit the promoters or owners viewpoint.

The New Morality Is Not New

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

Throughout history, societies have granted special recognition and privileges to marriage because it is the central organizing institution of human culture. Marriage regulates relationships, sexuality, human reproduction, lineage, kinship, and family structure. Also, marriage has performed another crucial function; it defines morality. Morality is much more than a definition of sexual activity. It provides structural and ethical balances that allow every individual to be respected and valued for their character, rather than social compliance. It is moral and ethical disciplines that regulate our freedoms into sustainable practices.

The Church is Meant to be God's Testimony

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

The true church should be built on the examples of Christ and the apostles, through the tangible power (rather than doctrinal theory), of the Holy Spirit. The functioning of our church needs to be representative of God's attitude and blessing to the human race, which also includes continuous refining of doctrinal issues. The positive way we treat each other, the way we respond to pressure or betrayal, should also reflect our God given testimony. Everyone in the church owes it to God, to have and continually present a positive testimony of overcoming and spiritual joy.

What Next?

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

Life is considered to be the most precious thing that we have and humanity has gone to great lengths to preserve it. Technology, hospitals, medicines, machinery and all sorts of techniques have been devised to try to sustain life. Pressure groups are always pointing out the perceived dangers of smoking, pollution, nuclear arms, climate change, etc., all expressing concerns for the values that maintain life. Not surprisingly, there is a much greater problem that men wilfully ignore. What happens after you die? Is it the end? Are there any other opportunities for further life? Is there another level of existence etc? It is typical of mankind to spend so much time and money trying to preserve his natural body (which ultimately perishes), while spending too little time investigating whether they can have a future after the body dies. What agency has been set up to investigate humanities greatest need? Mankind is foolishly worrying about immediate natural concerns at the expense of their future. What comes next... after you die? God asks us to consider these things and with the consideration he offers us a valuable answer.

Any Answer Except God

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

The world is stumbling from one crisis to another on a daily basis. Each failure is soon overwhelmed by another, often much worse. Most of our world leaders are too proud or foolish to take effective actions for fear that the press will crucify them for some petty breach of political correctness. There is madness in continuing to make choices that history has revealed can never work, especially when every action that leads to failure is already detailed in the bible. This world is so corrupted by evil and ignorance that any solution that involves God is not permitted... 'every answer except the one that works'. Even though the west was built on the Ten Commandments they are being abandoned at an alarming rate... and with it, the list of failures and misery continues to grow. Rather than return to proven models, they simply make more changes that can never work.

Resistance is Futile

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

This catchphrase grew popular in the TV series "Star Trek: The Next Generation," where an evil alien race called the Borg, tried to take over and assimilate every planet they came upon. "Resistance is futile" was the phrase used on those about to be taken captive... escape was impossible. Sadly, this is the reality for many trying to resist the downhill direction this modern world is taking. It won't end well, because the only solution is God and this world won't let God be the answer for anything! However, God will stun this world when Jesus Christ reappears to destroy everything that is a corruption of God's ways. Everyone is facing the certainty God's judgment... there is no escape. This perhaps, should be the application of 'resistance is futile' as everyone who resists Godss salvation will perish. HEB 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Both death and judgment are unavoidable. Thus any other life priority is futile.

The New Ark

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

The ark that Noah built was like nothing ever seen before on the earth. It was big and obvious, but no one related to the message that went with its construction. None identified his preaching and the ark with salvation and safety... none had seen a great flood before. They all perished because they simply couldn't bring themselves to weigh up the evidence. Likewise, the spirit filled church is a spiritual ark, but for most people during the last 2000 years, the signs based church is not identified as a place of safety. Even though death has stalked humanity from their earliest existence, not even the promise of eternal life with signs following has been able to capture the hearts of the majority.

Equipped to Minister

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

'Plug and Play' is a term used to describe the specific design of a computer system that makes it possible for the computer to use a device as soon as it is connected, with no special knowledge or training required. This is no different than the very effective plan of salvation (the New Testament), which Jesus Christ first introduced on the day of Pentecost. From the moment we receive the Holy Spirit we are ready to live forever and serve the Lord in truly amazing ways...

The Great Divide - The Sure Mercies of David Part Five

By Pastor Brad Smith [Brisbane]

Despite all the multitudes and diverse cultures in this world, there are only two types of people that summarise all humanity. There are those that are spiritually alive and those that are spiritually dead. Spiritual life comes by the anointing of the Holy Spirit (through the death and resurrection of Christ) and the maintenance of that life has been established on the mercies of David. However, when the maintenance is lacking, troubles and despair will also create a great divide. The mercy that David established for all of us; has one key requirement that most people overlook. PSA 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Verse 13 reveals the basis of David's agreement with God. Those who walk in the spirit must also be servants and administrators of God's word... not just hearers, but doers. Being a hearer only is unhealthy. This is the obvious question that God directs to all his saints... ROM 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? It isn't enough to know the gospel and its promises, it has to be our life.
